Ubaldo Continues His Struggles

Ubaldo Jimenez has really struggled in this young season. He gave up 7 runs in 6 innings on opening day and was placed on the DL the next day with a cut cuticle on his thumb. The cut cuticle limited his the spin on his curve ball and took a few miles per hour off of his fastball. Since his return from the DL he's been unable to go longer than 5 innings in any outing. Jimenez' ERA is now over 7 and climbing with every start made.  Ubaldo was 15-1 with a 2.20 ERA before the all-star break. He posted a 3.80 the rest of the season which is par for his career. I'm not saying he's going to continue to struggle as poorly as he has but it may be time to temper your expectations of him until he shows that he can pitch better. With so much pitching out there, it may be time to look elsewhere for your staff ace.
